چکیده

Medium to long term effects of catheter ablation (CA) on left atrial (LA) function in patients with paroxysmal fibrillation (AF) using cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) are not well studied. Moreover, the changes ventricular(LV) diastolic filling patterns (by CMR) after CA have been To assess medium-term LA and LV CMR. We analysed consecutive undergoing for AF at our institution from 2020-2022. Only who had both pre post CMR were sinus rhythm time included. Patients underwent late gadolinium enhancement cine sequence functional structural assessment. Left ventricular analysis was done endocardial border tracking create time-volume curves, while fibrosis assessed as a percentage total wall area stratified by Utah stage. (LAEF), active (LA-AEF), passive (LA-PEF) emptying fractions expansion index (LA-EI) calculated maximum, minimum before contraction volumes. Early peak rate (EPFR) rates (APFR) derived volume loops. Left Atrial Diastolic Dysfunction following Catheter Ablation of Atrial Fibrillation.

Radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA)-induced thermal injury may cause and/or worsen left atrial (LA) diastolic dysfunction leading to pulmonary hypertension and heart failure in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF), the incidence of which is probably more common than is generally realized. Biplane 2-dimensional echocardiography coupled with tissue Doppler (velocity) imaging and Doppler-der...

Impact of Atrial Fibrillation Ablation on Left Ventricular Filling Pressure and Left Atrial Remodeling

BACKGROUND Left ventricular (LV) diastolic dysfunction is associated with new-onset atrial fibrillation (AF), and the estimation of elevated LV filling pressures by E/e' ratio is related to worse outcomes in patients with AF. However, it is unknown if restoring sinus rhythm reverses this process. OBJECTIVE To evaluate the impact of AF ablation on estimated LV filling pressure. METHODS A tot...

Left ventricular diastolic function after electrical cardioversion of atrial fibrillation.

In chronic atrial fibrillation (AF) left ventricular function may gradually diminish as a result of an intrinsic tachycardiomyopathy. This tachycardia induced cardiomyopathy is characterised by decreased systolic function, ventricular dilation, and raised ventricular filling pressures. In such patients left ventricular systolic function may gradually improve after electrical cardioversion. Litt...

Significant improvement of left atrial and left atrial appendage function after catheter ablation for persistent atrial fibrillation.

BACKGROUND The long-term effects of catheter ablation (CA) on the left atrium and left atrial appendage (LAA) are unknown in persistent atrial fibrillation (AF). This study investigated left atrial (LA) reverse remodeling and evolution of LA/LAA function after successful CA for persistent AF and identified predictors for maintenance of sinus rhythm (SR) and LA reverse remodeling. METHODS AND ...
